Ordering FIPS-Validated YubiKeys
================================

As of May 26, 2026, the YubiKey 5 FIPS Series with firmware 5.7.4 has achieved FIPS 140-3 validation. Review the information in this chapter for guidance on purchasing both the latest YubiKey 5 FIPS 140-3 Series keys as well as the prior YubiKey 5 FIPS 140-2 Series keys.

YubiKey 5 FIPS 140-2 Series availability 
========================================

At present, the prior YubiKey 5 FIPS 140-2 Series keys are still available for purchase.

For enterprise customers with FIPS inventory who order through the Customer Portal or YubiEnterprise API, YubiKey 5 FIPS 140-2 Series keys can still to be ordered via the following product IDs and product names:

.. important:: In the future, the "FIPS 140-2" identifier will be appended to these product names to distinguish them from the new FIPS 140-3 keys. **If you create shipments via API and you use the product_name field to add products to the shipment_items array, we recommend transitioning to the use of the product_id field to proactively reduce any potential disruptions caused by the product name changes.**

Ordering the latest FIPS 140-3 validated keys
=============================================

FIPS 140-3 validated YubiKeys are now available for purchase for both enterprise and non-enterprise customers.

.. important:: FIPS 140-3 validated keys and FIPS 140-2 validated keys have distinct product IDs. If you create shipments via API and you wish to order the new FIPS 140-3 validated keys instead of the older FIPS 140-2 validated keys, make sure to update your code to use the new product IDs from this table.
